Samuel

My name is Samuel Martínez Llobet. Born in 1993, I consider myself a kid from the free-willy generation. Being a toddler I was already impressed by the orcas, those black and white intelligent creatures whose world was unknown to me. Getting closer to them became a dream ever since.

This dream led my steps towards a career in biology, studying the bachelor's in Madrid, my hometown, and a master's in marine biology in Tromsø. Here I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the Arctic personally and academically. I did my thesis with the Norwegian Polar Institute, specializing in acoustics of marine mammals. I have combined this passion for nature with my interest in the outdoor sports as a way to interact with it.

I’ve had the chance to conduct fieldwork in biology in Svalbard and in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica. Now I start a new chapter where I want to explore my interest for nature, the Arctic outdoors and the interest in divulgation through audiovisual content. I’ve moved in Longyearbyen where I study Arctic Nature Guide in the University Centre of Svalbard (UNIS).
